Alberta’s New Draw brings 401 Express Entry Candidates One Step Closer to PR
Recently, the government of the province of Alberta provided detail on its two express entry draws held in which it issued 401 invitations with Comprehensive Ranking System scores as low as 300. A draw held October 24 issued 372 invitations with CRS scores as low as 300 and the second draw held October 30 selected only 29 candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system and CRS score of 350 and up.
Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is one of the most popular Provincial Nominee Programs in Canada in a short span of time. It manages the entry of skilled and experienced candidates to meet the demands of the province’s market.
So, all interested candidates who want to consider their profiles for AINP’s provincial nomination through its express entry-linked stream need to apply online for application for Express entry pool. Based on selection factors like age, work experience, education, language proficiency in English or French, adaptability and arranged employment candidates receive their respective Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
However, only higher-scoring candidates are fortunate to get the invitation to apply for PR in Canada through regular draws. After getting the provincial nomination, they receive an additional 600 points toward their Express entry score.
Whether its 300 or 350, both scores drawn in Alberta’s draw are significantly lower than the lowest cut-off score of all Federal Express entry draws held so far in 2019, which was 438.
To be eligible for this draw, candidates must have a profile in Express Entry pool with a minimum CRS score. In addition to this, they must be working in Alberta in-demand occupations. The AINP give priority to candidates having
- work experience in occupation that supports the province’s economic development;
- a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution along with a valid job offer; or
- a parent, child or sibling living in Alberta
On the contrary, some factors may decrease chances of receiving an invitation from Alberta, such as:
- The Express Entry expiry date is within three months of the draw
- Certain occupations which are enlisted in the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list
