Canada has recently announced immigration of around 1 million individuals by 2020. The aim of such bulk immigration by Canadian Government is quite clear. It requires skilled and experienced individuals of any nationality to boost up its developing economy. Express entry program is one of the fastest and simplest ways for aspirants to enter Canada with a PR visa. It has three sub-categories including:
Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC): It is a point-based immigration program which qualifies the applications of skilled workers for job expertise level O, A or B.
Federal Trades Worker Class (FTWC): It is for all those people who get qualified in skilled trade and now want to become a permanent resident in Canada.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC): It is for all those people who have years of working experience in Canada or who have studied in a Canadian university.
However, whatever be the categories, point-based system is the only way for evaluation. For that, a minimum of 67 points out of 100 is pre-requisite to become eligible to apply for Canadian PR visa under the Express Entry program for the year of 2019.
Canadian government initiated this point-based system to promote the entries of only capable candidates in the state. In earlier days, the selection criterion was First-come, First-served, which focused mainly on the quantity, not quality. However, now under Canada’s point assessment grid, the proficiency of applicants has been assessed on different selection factors including age, educational background, working experience, command over English or French, connections in Canada etc. Each selection factor has its maximum points, and your total Express Entry score will predict whether you are able to move to Canada and can do your desired activities there like study, work or not.
Let’s understand six factors, based on which Canada’s point system has been designed.
Age:
As stated above, the Canadian government only wants progress in its developing economy. For that, it picks up highly skilled and experienced workers across the world through immigration programs. And if you are a young skilled worker under 40s preferably, then you have more chances to become eligible as undoubtedly, age is directly proportional to productivity. In minimum 67 points eligibility criteria, the age factor encompasses a maximum of 12 points.

18-35 | 12 |
36 | 11 |
37 | 10 |
38 | 09 |
39 | 08 |

41 | 06 |
42 | 05 |

Educational background:
An educated class is a backbone of a developed economy so, minimum educational qualification is necessary for Canadian PR visa. The credit points in this factor reach to the maximum of 25 for Doctoral (PhD) holders.
Level of education | Credit points |
Doctorate | 25 |
Master degree or any professional degree listed in NOC 2016 skill level A | 23 |

Language ability:
French and English are the most spoken languages in Canada and both recognized as its official languages. So, an applicant needs to be proficient at reading, writing, listening and speaking in either English or French. The minimum eligibility requirement for language ability is CLB level 7 for primary language (English). For that, the IELTS score is mandatory. Moreover, it should not be more than two years old at the time of processing of the application.
Adaptability:
Here adaptability means connections in Canada. It is not a mandatory factor; however, if you have any family member in Canada who can sponsor you, then you can get an additional 10 points in your scorecard.
Arrangement employment:
A maximum of 10 points is for a Canadian job offer. If you have LMIA (Labor Market Impact Assessment) approved Job offer for a full-paid permanent job, listed in the NOC list, then these 10 points are in your basket.
