When it comes to Canadian permanent residency, then Express Entry is one of the most popular choices among immigrants. It receives applications through its three major economic categories including Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. To register under any of the categories of Express entry program, one has to apply online on the IRCC portal and submit Expression of Interest (EOI) there.
At the time of submission of the profile, an applicant needs to provide information on his personal credentials including age, educational background, professional experience, language proficiency, connections in Canada and more. These six selection factors determine the eligibility of an applicant according to the immigration program.
Age:
In general, all the applicants between the age group of 18-46 can apply for Canadian permanent residency through the Express entry program. However, maximum points (12 credit points) add up only in the CRS score of those candidates whose age is between 18 to 35 years. It is because Canada is one of the largest countries in the world for dealing in labour-extensive activities like farming, mining, export of natural resources like oil, metal and more so, it needs young immigrants to meet the demands of its labour market. And, more the numbers of young people more would be productivity.
Education:
If you are a skilled worker from an overseas country and completed the education outside Canada, then you need to provide an Education credential assessment from an approved authority along with your application form. It will prove your qualified educational degrees or diploma to the equivalent Canadian education system. Only, then you get a score for your education background in the CRS system. For instance, you will get a maximum of 25 points to your EE score for doctorate degree whereas, for Master Degree or any professional degree listed in NOC 2016 skill level A, the credit points are 23.
Work experience:
Having degrees is not sufficient to enter Canada. The Canadian government is seeking applications from experienced individuals whose skills can increase productivity and economic graph there. So, all eligible candidates must have at least one year of full-time continuous work experience in (or equivalent part-time job experience) in any skilled occupation, listed in Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) list.
Language skills:
What if you immigrate to Canada, however, doesn’t understand the language there. Neither you can stay nor work there due to communication gap. So, it is mandatory for all aspirants to have a command over either official languages of Canada, English or French. For that, they need to appear in language proficiency test, approved by Immigration, Refugees and Canadian Citizenship (IRCC) like IELTS and TEF and must get sufficient score as per CLB in all language abilities including writing, speaking, listening and reading. Maximum points for language proficiency are 28 in the 67-point table.
Adaptability:
This factor is not mandatory, however, offers a maximum of 10 points to the 67-point table. Adaptability involves the option through which you can become able to contribute to the economy of the country. It includes your prior stay experience in Canada either for work or study, relations in Canada as relative, friend or spouse and more.
Arranged employment:
It is also not a mandatory factor, however, contributes a maximum of 10 points to the 67-point table for Express entry System. So, all those who have a valid job offer in skilled type O, A or B jobs in Canada, they have better chances to settle in Canada.
Besides these selection factors, proof of funds plays a significant role in the eligibility of the EE system. The Canadian government needs a candidate with sufficient funds to support him/her and dependants in Canada after immigration. So, if you have fulfilled eligibility criteria and a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in points’ assessment grid, then you should submit your profile in the same.
