Nova Scotia Demand:
This express-entry linked stream welcomes entries from professionals whose job profiles are presently in-demand in Nova Scotia. It has two sub-categories – Category A and Category B, which help skilled labors around the world in finding better-paid jobs quickly in the province.
Category A: Arranged Employment in Nova Scotia:
Under this sub-category, candidates need to have an arranged job offer along with a positive Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from a Nova Scotia employer. Moreover, the job offer must be for a full-time job, which includes in a 2016 National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill Type/Level 0, A, or B occupation.
Category B: Paid Work Experience in an Opportunity Occupation:
Under this category, a candidate must have at least one year of work experience for a continuous full-time job (or 1,560 hours or more) or an equal amount in part-time work in the last six years. Moreover, a job must be in a 2016 National Occupational Classification (NOC) list.
Eligibility for Nova Scotia demand: Express Entry
- An applicant must have an Express Entry profile
- He/she must score at least 67 points for express entry out of 100 in point assessment grid

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry:

Eligibility for Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry:
- An applicant must have an Express entry profile
- He/she must be at least 21 years old
- He/she have at least one-year work experience in full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) paid skilled job in Nova Scotia in the past three years with the certain condition including:
- Volunteer work, unpaid internships, co-op terms, and more are not countable in the experience
- The job must be in National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Type 0, Skill Level A or B occupation
- Experience letter must be with the proper authorization (work permit) and includes job which is available in the province of Nova Scotia only
- He/she must have completed Canadian secondary (high school) or post-secondary educational credential or equivalent. Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report is necessary if he/she completed studies outside Canada
- He/she must be fluent in all four components speaking, reading, writing, and listening of the language either English or French. Moreover, a minimum of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 in language proficiency test for NOC O, A and CLB 5 for NOC B is essential
Labor Market Priorities stream:
This stream targets the candidates from Express entry program to meet high-demand labor or other skills for the market of the province.
Eligibility for Labor Market Priorities stream:
- An applicant must have an Express entry profile
- He/she must receive a Letter of Interest (LOI) from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI)
- He/she must have completed Canadian secondary (high school) or post-secondary educational credential or equivalent
- He/she must qualify for Draw-specific requirements. Eligibility gets changed from draw to draw and needs of the labor market
- He/she must have the required work experience for a continuous full-time job (or 1,560 hours or more) or an equal amount in part-time work. Moreover, the job must be in the Government’s National Occupational Classification (NOC), listed in the draw announcement.
- He/she must be fluent in all four components speaking, reading, writing, and listening of the language either English or French
- He/she must have enough financial resources to support him/her in Nova Scotia.
Application process for Nova Scotia Express Entry:
- All interested candidates who wish their profiles to be registered for nomination through Nova Scotia Demand Immigration stream must need to first enter the profile under IRCC’s online Express Entry system as Express Entry’s profile number and job seeker code are mandatory for further steps.
- After registration, candidates need to submit the required set of documents to the concerned authorities. Then, Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) evaluate the submitted applications based on the selection factors like age, education, work experience, language proficiency and more.
- After evaluation, NSOI decides whether to nominate or refuse the application and communicate it through the mail. Ones who received nomination need to accept or reject the nomination within 30 days. Nominated candidates receive Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence and then need to submit applications for the same within 90 days.
- Rejected applicants also get the intent to refusal letter from NSOI and have only ten business days to submit further documents.
Ineligible candidates for Nova Scotia Express Entry:
- An individual having a nomination under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program dated within the last 12 months
- An individual who wishes to work or have a work permit for NOC skill level C or D listed occupation
- A grandparent, parent, spouse, common-law or conjugal partner of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada
- An applicant under humanitarian and compassionate grounds, a refugee claimant or a failed refugee claimant;
- An individual without any legal status in Canada
- An international student currently studying at a Canadian post-secondary institution
- An international graduate who has completed his education from a Canadian university and now contractually obligated to return to his/her country of origin
- An individual engaged in a seasonal, part-time job or work
- An individual who has a job or work experience outside Nova Scotia
- A helper or labor in construction, agriculture or primary resources sectors
- An individual in Canada who is in the Caregiver Program
- An individual who wishes to start a business or be self-employed in Nova Scotia
- A passive investor (an individual who intends to invest in a Nova Scotia business with very limited or no involvement in the day-to-day management of the business)
- An individual who is unable to provide proof of the required amount of funds
