Investor Visa (Tier 1)
The Investor visa is for all those applicants who have enough money to invest in some business in the UK. This visa allows the applicants to enter and work inside of the UK based on their investment. This visa allows an applicant to stay in the UK for 3 years and 4 months.
An applicant can apply for Investor Visa if:
- The applicants want to invest £2,000,000 or more in the UK
- The applicants should b outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland
- The applicants must be eligible for this visa
Benefits
- The applicants can invest £2,000,000 or more in the UK government bonds, share capital or loan capital in active and the trading UK registered companies
- The applicants on this visa are allowed to work or study in the UK
- The applicant can apply to settle in the UK after 2 years if the applicant invest £10 million
- The applicants can apply to settle in the UK after 3 years if the applicants invest £5 million
Restrictions
An applicant on this visa will have some restrictions. Those restrictions are:
- An applicant will not be allowed to invest in companies mainly engaged in property investment, property management or property development in the UK
- An applicant will not be allowed to work as a professional sportsperson or sports coach in the UK
- An applicant will not be allowed to get public funds in the UK
- An applicant is not allowed to work as a doctor or a dentist in training.
The applicants must meet any of the following requirements in order to work as a doctor or a dentist in training:
- The applicant must have a primary degree at bachelors level or above in medicine or dentistry from a UK institution that holds a Tier 4 sponsor licence or is the UK recognized or listed body
- The applicants must have worked as a doctor or dentist in training the last time they were in the UK
- Neither of those conditions was part of the terms and conditions on a previous visa
Eligibility
In order to become eligible for The Investor visa in the UK, the applicants need to meet the following requirements:
- The applicants must have at least £2,000,000 investment funds
- The applicant’s age must 18 or over to apply for this visa
- The applicants are able to prove that the money belongs to either them or their husband, wife, unmarried or same-sex partner
- The applicants have opened a UK bank account
The applicant’s funds must be:
- held in one or more regulated financial institutions
- free to spend (‘disposable’) in the UK
Students with financial sponsorship
The applicants can apply for this visa if they are in the UK and meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must be a Tier 4 (General) visa holder
- The applicant must be a student nurse
- The applicant must be studying, writing up a thesis or re-sitting an exam
- The applicant must be a postgraduate doctor or dentist
- The applicant must be an overseas qualified nurse or midwife
- The applicant must be a student sabbatical officer
Fees
The applicant must pay £1,623 to apply for the investor visa (Tier 1)
Documents
An applicant must provide the following documents:
- The applicant must have a valid passport
- The applicant will have to show the tuberculosis test results if they belong to a country where they have to take the test.
- The applicant must have a criminal record certificate from any other country where they have stayed in for a total of 12 months or more over the last 10 years
Proof of the investment funds
Applicants own money
If an applicant is planning to invest his or her own money, then the applicants need to show the following:
- The money they have and where it’s being held
- Source of income if the applicants haven’t had money for at least 3 months
- The money can be transferred to the UK
Partner’s money
If the source of investment is the partner’s money, then the applicant must be able to show the following:
- A certificate of marriage or civil partnership, or in the case of unmarried or same-sex relationships, proof that you are in a long-term relationship (at least 2 years)
- A statement from your partner confirming that they will allow you to control the funds in the UK
- A letter from a legal adviser stating that the declaration is valid
