Ontario Human Capital is a sub-category of Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) which brings applications from skilled workers, postgraduates and PhD graduates of different nationalities for a permanent home in the province. The primary goal of this immigration stream is to select ideal candidates with the required skill set and experience to meet the shortage of labor in different sectors in the province. It further segregated into the Express entry– linked immigration stream and international graduate stream.
Types of Ontario Human Capital Category:
Ontario Express entry:
Ontario express entry is an Express entry linked immigration stream of Ontario Human capital category. It selects eligible candidates for the provincial nomination from the pool of express entry candidates. It encompasses three more branches including,
- Ontario Human capital Priorities
- Ontario French-Speaking Skilled Worker
- Ontario Skilled Trades
Ontario international graduate stream:
Ontario international graduate stream is a sub-category of Ontario Human capital category which selects international students who have completed masters and PhD from a reputed educational institution in the province. It encompasses two more branches including,
- Ontario Masters Graduate
- Ontario PhD Graduate
Ontario Human capital Priorities:
Ontario Human Capital Priorities is one of the immigration pathways of Ontario Express entry program which nominate eligible skilled workers from the pool of express entry candidate based on the merit system.
Eligibility for Ontario Human capital Priorities:
- As this is an express-entry linked profile so, it is mandatory for an applicant to have an Express entry profile in either Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
- An applicant must have a minimum one year of continuous, full-time work experience in any NOC Skill Level 0, A or B.
- An applicant must have a minimum of CLB level 7 in Language proficiency test. However, in CEC, the minimum CLB level for NOC B is 5
- Although in September 2018, the government replaced the minimum CRS score for OINP’s Human capital, still an applicant must have at least CRS score of 400 out of 1200 in the point-assessment table to have good chances of getting an invitation through regular draws.
- An applicant must have sufficient settlement funds to support him/her in Ontario after immigration
Note: CEC candidates do not require settlement funds for Federal Express entry; however, it is mandatory in for Ontario Human capital Priorities.
Ontario French-Speaking Skilled Worker:
Ontario French-Speaking Skilled Worker is one of the immigration pathways of Ontario Express entry program which nominate Express entry candidates who have linguistic knowledge in both English and French.
Eligibility for Ontario French-Speaking Skilled Worker:
- An applicant must have an Express entry profile in either Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
- An applicant must score a minimum of CLB level 7 in all linguistic abilities including reading, writing, speaking and listening in French-language proficiency test, TEF (Test d’evaluation de Francais). Moreover, he/she score a minimum of CLB level 6 in all linguistic abilities in English- language proficiency test, IELTS or CELPIP.
- An applicant must have a minimum one year of continuous, full-time work experience in any NOC Skill Level 0, A or B.
- An applicant must have sufficient settlement funds to support him/her in Ontario after immigration.
Ontario Skilled Trades:
Ontario Skilled Trades is one of the immigration pathways of Ontario Express entry program which nominate Express entry candidates with work experience in one of Canada’s skilled trade occupations.
Eligibility for Ontario Skilled Trades:
- An applicant must have an Express entry profile in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
- An applicant must reside in the province at the time of his/her application as well as possess a valid work permit
- An applicant must score a minimum of CLB level 5 in all four abilities in the language proficiency test
- An applicant must have a minimum of one year of work experience in Ontario within the past two years in any of the eligible skilled Trades stream occupations including,
- Minor group 633
- Major group 72
- Major group 73
- Major group 82
Ontario Masters Graduate:
Ontario Masters Graduate is one of the immigration pathways of Ontario Express entry program which nominate international students who have completed a master’s degree from an educational institution in Ontario
Eligibility for Ontario Masters Graduate:
- An applicant must complete masters from an eligible Ontario’s university within the last two years
- An applicant must score a minimum of CLB level 7 in the language proficiency test
- An applicant must have proof of past residency in the province for a minimum duration of 12 months prior to application
- An applicant must have sufficient settlement funds to support him/her in the province after immigration
Ontario PhD graduates:
Ontario PhD graduate is one of the immigration pathways of Ontario Express entry program which nominate international students who have completed a Doctoral degree from an educational institution in Ontario.
Eligibility for Ontario PhD graduates:
- An applicant must complete a doctoral from an eligible Ontario’s university within the last two years
- An applicant must score a minimum of CLB level 7 in the language proficiency test
- An applicant must have proof of past residency in the province for a minimum duration of 12 months prior to application
- An applicant must have sufficient funds to support him/her in the province after immigration
Application process for Ontario Human Capital Category:
Ontario International Graduate Stream:
- Create an account online and fill the application form within 14 days.
- Submit the supporting documents along with the application form
- Make the payment for OINP application fee $ 1500 (CAD)
- If the province selects the profile for a provincial nomination, then an applicant needs to submit a Federal application for PR.
Note: Ontario international graduate stream intakes the limited number of applications for a short period only.
Ontario Express entry:
- Firstly, create an Express entry profile in FSWC or CEC
- If the province finds his/her profile suitable for a provincial nomination, then it offers Notification of Interest (NOI) through regular NOIs draw
- Once he/she accepts an NOI, there are 45 days to submit the complete application for a provincial nomination
Note: Nominated candidates receive an additional 600 points in their Express entry CRS score which effectively enhances the chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) through the next express entry draw for Canadian PR visa.
Application fee for Ontario Human Capital Category:
Irrespective of the immigration streams of Ontario Human Capital Category, the amount of application fee is $ 1500 (CAD).
It is suggested to pay the fees on time as delay in the payment may lead to a longer processing period of application of Ontario Human Capital Category.
