Ontario provincial nomination program (OINP):
Ontario is one of the most popular Canadian provinces, having a strong economic, political and social life. The ultimate aim of Ontario PNP is to pick and call skilled and experienced professionals who can immediately benefit its economy at both the local and national level. Requirements for OINP are – an applicant must possess a minimum level of education like diploma or certificate, IELTS score, working experience and all. It receives applications through Human Capital Category, Employer Job Offer Category, and Business Category.
Saskatchewan Provincial Nomination Program (SINP):
All the candidates who want to live and work in Saskatchewan, they can apply through SINP for immigration. In this program, expected immigrants who are skilled and have experience may receive a Saskatchewan Provincial Nomination Certificate on selection, which will give them an allowance to apply for Canadian permanent residence. It intakes applications through International skilled worker category, Entrepreneur Category, Saskatchewan experience category, and Farm category.
Nova Scotia provincial nomination program (NSNP):
This program is an immigration program which selects potential candidates who are skilled and experienced enough to immigrate to Nova Scotia as the permanent residents.
Manitoba provincial nomination program (MPNP):
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program targets graduates, skilled individuals, entrepreneurs, business persons, and all who can contribute to the developing economy of the province. There are three primary categories, through which MPNP receives applications, including: Skilled Worker Immigration Stream, Business Immigration stream and Morden Community Driven Immigration Initiative (through MPNP)
Each Provincial Nomination program has at least one immigration sub-category, which directly linked to the Federal Express Entry Program and nominations made via such streams are called ‘Enhanced nominations’. All the Enhanced nominations are available online for processing whereas ‘Base nominations’, provincial and territory nominations outside of Express Entry system process through a paper-based process.
Out of Express-entry linked streams, some need Canadian job offer on priority basis whereas some don’t. There are three sub-categories for Express-entry linked streams that don’t require any pre-arranged job offer from a Canadian employer including Passive, Active (First-come, First-served) and Active (Expression of Interest).
No Job Offer, it’s okay;
Examples of the Passive category are Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream, Skilled Trades Stream and French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream. Through such streams, provinces select candidatures from express entry pool having eligible requirements for provincial nomination.
Examples of Active (First-come, First-served) category is Saskatchewan’s International Skilled Worker—Express Entry subcategory and Category B of Nova Scotia’s Demand: Express Entry Stream. As per the name, streams under this active category select the candidates on the first come, first served basis only. They open periodically and influx the number of applications for a few hours to meet their specific quota requirements.
Examples of Active (Expression of Interest) category are applications under Manitoba, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island provincial nomination programs. These programs require Expression of interest from applicants to be registered for provincial nominations to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
Two different ways for provincial and territory nominations:
Candidates found inside the Express Entry pool:
Provinces and territories search the Express Entry candidates from the pool based on language proficiencies, education level, working experience according to respective requirements. Then, concerned authorities send Notification of Interest to the list of selected candidates. If candidates are also interested in living in that province, then they need to provide Express Entry profile number and job validation code to authorities for nomination certificate.
Candidates found outside the Express Entry pool:
In this case, when provinces and territories find an eligible candidate for their respective express entry-linked PNP stream, then they instruct that applicant to register in express entry pool after checking his/her eligibility. Once he/she has submitted his/her profile in the pool, he/she needs to provide Express entry profile number and job validation code to authorities for nomination certificate.
It is worth noting that all the candidates who have provincial nominations from these Express-entry aligned streams receive an additional 600 Comprehensive ranking system (CRS) points towards their Express entry score. This score is sufficient to trigger the chances of getting Invitation to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence through the Express Entry System.
