Application deadline for Quebec Selection Certificate gets reduced to 60 days
On June 26, 2019, the provincial government of Quebec announced three measures for its provincial nominee program which are expected to take effect immediately after the announcement.
Shortened application deadline:
Candidates of Skilled Worker Program will now have a duration of 60 days only to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (QSC) after getting the invitation. Earlier, the deadline was of 90 days; however, the recent announcement by the government cuts 30 days from the previous deadline.
This was not for the first time that the government reduced the deadline for Canada’s immigration program. One year ago, the Federal government introduced a similar reduction in its Express entry system.
Validity for the extra six months:
In the announcement, the second measure for the validity of Expressions of Interest (EOIs). Now, the EOI’s which are currently in the Quebec Skilled Worker Program‘s pool of candidates will have the validity for an extra six months.
Declined invitations:
In the announcement, the third measure was for EOIs of candidates who decline an invitation to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Quebec, or CSQ). Now, such EOI’s will remain in the pool of candidates for their full validity period.
