IRCC now issuing invites to interested sponsors for Parents and Grandparents Program
IRCC is now inviting interested sponsors to apply to its parents and grandparents program. Canada’s parents and grandparents program is a part of family sponsorship. It allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents having above 18 years to sponsor their parents or grandparents in Canada for permanent residence status.
On April 24, 2019, the first invitations went to the email addresses used in the sponsor form of interested candidates. IRCC said that the order of issuing invites is the same as that of acknowledgement of Interest to Sponsor forms during the submission period held on January 28. Moreover, it would take a couple of days to issue invites to all potential sponsors.
So, all those interested sponsors who receive invites to apply for the program will have to submit complete sponsorship application including the application to become a sponsor and the application from their parents or grandparents for Canadian permanent residence within 60 days from the date of getting invites.
For 2019, IRCC has a target of 20,000 complete applications to its Parents and Grandparents Program. It means if you are fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the program and interested in living with your parents and grandparents in Canada, then this is the right time to sponsor them.
