New Express Entry Draw’s Cut-off shows hike of seven points
On, August 12, 2019, the Federal government of Canada issued 3,600 invitations to Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence. After the draw, the total number of ITAs issued so far this year has reached 52,600. It has been the third consecutive Express Entry draw to issue such a large number of invitations since July 10, 2019. These larger draws’ size reflects the higher admissions targets for both 2019 and 2020. So this is the right time for aspirants to apply for PR through the Express entry system.
Federal express entry program is one of the most popular immigration programs to manage the applications of skilled workers of different nationalities. It has three sub-categories which include Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class. It is a point-based immigration system which evaluates profiles on credentials like age, education, work experience and language proficiency. In the previous draw held on July 24, 2019, the minimum cut-off was 459; however, in this draw, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for today’s draw marked up to 466.
The increase or decrease of a minimum cut-off depends on the time gap between two consecutive draws. On increasing the time-gap between the draws, the Express Entry pool receives more number of applications from higher-scoring candidates which ultimately leads to the raising of the cut-off score in the coming draws. Therefore, the elapse of three weeks between the consecutive Express entry draw contributed in the hike of seven points of cut-off score drawn in today’s draw over the minimum score of the previous draw.

Based on factors like age, work experience, education, proficiency in English or French, connections in Canada and more, your profile gets CRS score. In case you don’t get sufficient score for EE draw, then you can apply to express entry-linked Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Nominated candidates are awarded with an additional 600 points in their EE score and move them to the front of the line for an ITA.
In the recent weeks, Express Entry-linked PNPs of Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta have invited large number Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. For instance, OINP’s Human Capital Priorities Stream draw solely issued 1,773 invitations to Express Entry candidates with CRS scores of 435 and work experience in six tech-related occupations, among other requirements. Similarly, recent Alberta draw held on July 24 issued invitations to 202 Express Entry candidates with scores as low as 303.
