Express Entry 2019 Quarterly Report: A Bigger Start
Express Entry, Labour Impact and entrepreneur candidates invited in March 21 draw
The first quarterly report of 2019 came out, in which 21,200 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) went to Express Entry candidates for Canadian permanent residency. The increase of 3,700 invites has surpassed 2018’s first quarter record which ended at 17,500 invitations issued.
Undoubtedly, the year began in full swing and beat all the previous records. For instance, 3,350 ITAs went to candidates in each of the last four Express Entry Draws out of a total of six. Only the first two draws of 2019 issued 3,900 ITAs. This large size of draws drives a higher number of eligible candidates for PR.
Looking at the minimum CRS score in the Express Entry draw, the first quarter in 2019 ended with a score of 452, which was 5 points less from the highest recorded CRS score. Also, the lowest minimum CRS score in 2018 was 442, whereas, in 2019, it was 438.
The reason for the reduction in score is the time gap between two consecutive draws. Less time gap results in less number of profiles which ultimately drops down the score in the draw. This trend can understand through the following graph:
Although 2018 has been one of the biggest hit since the introduction of Express Entry Program in 2015, with the all-time record of 89,800 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued for the year, yet 2019 is expected to be more successful for Canada’s immigration system based on three-year immigration level (2019-2021). Under this plan, the government of Canada is planning for a large number of admissions, around 350,000 in 2021. The following graph shows the government of Canada has increased the federal High Skilled Admissions targets for years 2019 and 2020 to meet the requirements of its labour market.
