IRCC issued 3,900 invitations to Express Entry candidates| Express Entry Program
The new draw leaves IRCC less than 8,000 invitations away from beating 2017 Express Entry record
The government of Canada has released the Rare Thursday express entry draw held on November 15 with the minimum comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score 449. A total of 3,900 invitations to apply or ITAs were issued by Immigration, Refugees and citizenship Canada (IRCC) to those candidates whose score was equal or more than the minimum comprehensive ranking system score(CRS) in this express entry draw.
This round has brought the number of invitations issued by immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in 2018 to 78,100. This total number of invitations is 8,000 less than the total annual record of invitations in 2017.
Express Entry is a program that is designed to select a skilled worker who wants to migrate to Canada on a Canada PR visa. It is a completely electronic program that manages applications of candidates who want to migrate to Canada as a Permanent Residence of Canada.
This program manages the following three economic immigration programs:
-
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
-
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
-
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Candidates who are eligible are given a score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) that determines their position in the Express Entry pool, and a set number of the highest-ranked are issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) through regular draws from the pool.

The previous express entry draw was held on October 29 with a CRS of 442 which is 7 less than this rare Thursday Express Entry Draw.
There are many other ways to migrate to Canada apart from Express Entry Program like PNP. The government of Canada has introduced a program that is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Through Canadian PNP or provincial nominee program (PNP), all the provinces and territories (except for Quebec) can select skilled candidates.

IRCC has a 2018 admissions target for its Federal High Skilled immigration category of 74,900 new permanent residents. This target is slated to grow to 81,400 in 2019, 85,800 in 2020 and 88,800 in 2021 under Canada’s updated multi-year immigration levels plan, which the government made public October 31.
The following are hypothetical examples of candidates who would have obtained an ITA in the recent draw:
Elyas is 29, has a Bachelor’s degree, has taken the IELTS exam and obtained an 8 in all categories and has five years of foreign work experience as a data analyst. Elyas has never worked or studied in Canada but has a brother who is a Canadian citizen, which allows him to receive points for a sibling in Canada. His CRS score of 453 would have been sufficient to obtain an ITA in today’s draw.
Naima is 34, has a Master’s degree and five years of foreign work experience as a marketing coordinator. Naima took the CELPIP exam, and obtained CLB 10 in all categories. While Naima has never worked or studied in Canada, her CRS of 454 would have been sufficient to obtain an ITA in the November 15 draw.
Alex is 32, has a Master’s degree and obtained IELTS 7 in Writing, Reading and Speaking and IELTS 8 in Listening. He has five years of foreign work experience as a business consultant, but no Canadian work or study experience. His CRS of 453 would have earned him an ITA in today’s draw.
