Nova Scotia unveils new immigration pilot for in-demand intermediate-skilled workers
Recently, the Canadian province Nova Scotia has launched its new immigration pilot stream for international candidates having an eligible job offer in any of its targeted intermediate-skilled occupations. After this immigration pilot stream, the total number of immigration pathways operated by Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) has reached to eight.
According to the report issued, professions which are enlisted in the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)’ new Occupation in Demand Stream are “in high labor market demand” in Nova Scotia. However, the list of occupation may get change anytime according to the needs of the province’s labor market.
Nova Scotia’s Immigration Minister, Lena Metlege Diab said “We are constantly evaluating our programs to see how we can better respond to what the province needs.”
“We recognize the significant economic contributions immigrants make to our province and expect the changes and new Occupations in Demand pilot to help more businesses prosper.”
So, all those candidates who have a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in the province in the following two occupations, which are categorized as NOC Skill Level C, are eligible for NSNP’s new Occupation in Demand Stream
- NOC 3413 — Nurses aides, orderlies and patient service associates
- NOC 7511 — Transport truck drivers
In addition to this, the following is the list of other requirements to become eligible
- An applicant must be 21 years of age
- He/she must have at least one year of work experience related to the job

Along with the introduction of the new immigration pilot stream, the NSNP also announced some new changes to its Entrepreneur and International Graduate Entrepreneur stream.
On this, NSNP said “[The change] will allow for collaboration with other entrepreneurs and give recent international graduates more flexibility in achieving entrepreneurship and immigration goals.”
According to the new change, now existing business owners will become eligible for its Entrepreneur Stream and can include the amount of operating expenses towards its required minimum investment.
Moreover, the ownership requirements for international graduates who wish to start a business there will become one third only from 100 per cent.
