Ontario invited candidates through its French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
On May 22, 2019, the Canadian province Ontario issued 360 new invitations to Express Entry candidates for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence through its French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream. After this draw, a total of 549 invitations have been issued through the stream so far this year, 2019.
Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is a provincial nominee program which has three categories for access of foreign workers, business persons, entrepreneurs and international students in Canada as permanent residents.
French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream is one of the OINP’s immigration pathways which linked to Federal Express Entry Program. It manages applications of foreign nationals who have their profiles in Express entry pool and have eligible French-speaking abilities.
Federal Express entry program is a point-based program which further segregates into three economic categories including Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.
Recently, the government of Ontario has released a list of proposed changes in 2019 to its key Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s streams. However, the eligibility for Ontario’s French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream has remained the same for applicants, which includes:
- An applicant must have a profile in Federal Express Entry Program
- He/she must be proficient in reading, writing, listening and understanding French and English
- He/she must score a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 7 in all four abilities in French and CLB level 6 in English
It is worth noting here that there is no requirement of any job offer or minimum CRS score to become eligible for this immigration stream.
So if you want to consider your profile for the same, then create a profile in Express entry pool. Based on selection factors like age, education, work experience, language proficiency, connections in Canada, your profile gets accessed and receive CRS score.
Higher scoring candidates receive a provincial nomination through the regular draws and an additional 600 points towards their Express entry score. It increases the chances of getting an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian PR from the Government of Canada.
