Ontario issued invitations to express Entry candidates in the latest draw
The Canadian province Ontario has received an additional 700 nominations for 2019 and on December 11, 2019, it issued 667 invitations to Express Entry candidates through its Skilled Trades Stream. The new nominations bring Ontario’s 2019 allocation under Canada PNP to 7,350
Undoubtedly, Ontario is a great place to stay or work for new permanent residents, and the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)’s Skilled Trades Stream is a popular immigration program to nominate candidates with Ontario work experience in eligible skilled trades. It is linked to Federal Express entry program and searches Express entry pool for qualified or eligible leads for nomination.
Eligible trades for this category include those listed in Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) Minor Group 633 or Major Groups 72, 73 or 82.
Another OINP’s express entry-linked immigration stream, Human Capital Priorities Stream has been the busiest one so far this year and issued nearly 7,000 NOIs.
An express entry candidate who receives the nomination from any of the Canadian provinces is eligible for an additional 600 points towards his/her comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score which increases the chances of getting an invitation to apply for Canadian PR.
Required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for today’s draw was as low as 410. On the contrary, the federal Express Entry draw held on the same day witnessed a minimum CRS score of 472.
Temporary Foreign Worker nominations
Moreover, in an announcement, it has reported that the OINP will continue to process another 250 nominations for temporary foreign workers under its In-Demand Skills Stream. It requires work experience in Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill level ‘C’.
Earlier this year, the federal initiative has announced in which 2,000 additional PNP spaces this year has planned to create so that long-term, intermediate-skilled temporary foreign workers in Canada can become permanent residents.
“It’s great to see the OINP cap what’s been an incredible year with new Express Entry invitations,” said David Cohen, senior partner with the Campbell Cohen Canadian immigration law firm in Montreal.
“The invitations were also a good reminder that there are options for potentially obtaining a federal invitation to apply for permanent residence when you have a lower CRS score, with a provincial nomination being chief among them.
