Quebec announces increase in the amount of sponsorship, settlement, application fee for 2020
The new year is about to come, and the Canada immigration programs are all set to update their respective policies, procedures, eligibility criteria, fees, requirements and more to benefit both the immigrants and the labor market.
Quebec is going to increase financial support requirements and application fees for Quebec immigration 2020 to reflect changes in the average Consumer Price Index in the province. The new charges will take effect from January 1 and affect the following scales:
- The financial capacity of Quebec residents who wish to be a part of family reunification under the sponsorship program
- The financial requirements for foreign nationals and their accompanying family members who wish to study in Quebec
- The financial resources required by Quebec Skilled Worker Program candidates, self-employed workers, entrepreneurs in Streams One and Two, and the Quebec Experience Program to assess the financial self-sufficiency
New sponsorship income requirements:
It is necessary for a sponsor to show a specified annual income to sponsor a family member for permanent residence in Quebec. The minimum sponsorship income requirement depends on the number of family members in the sponsor’s household as well as the number of sponsored people
The following table shows the changes in the required annual income of the sponsor in 2020 according to the number of people in the family unit for sponsorship:
