Rare Monday Express Entry draw drops CRS to 284 for Federal Skilled Trades candidates
How to apply Federal Skilled Trades Class?
Rare Monday draw that held on September 24, 2018, was the 100th invitation round through Federal Express Entry System. In this draw, a total of 400 invitation to apply or ITAs were issued to Express Entry Candidate in the Federal Skilled Trades Class by the government of Canada.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this draw was 284.
The Comprehensive ranking system score (CRS) is cut off points for candidates to qualify express entry. So a candidate is considered as qualified if his or her CRS is more than or equal to minimum Comprehensive ranking system score (CRS) that has been fixed by Immigration, Refugees and citizenship Canada (IRCC) in that express entry. A candidate is considered to be not qualified for Express Entry Program if the candidates Comprehensive ranking system score (CRS) is less than the minimum Comprehensive ranking system score (CRS).
That means the candidates with a score less than 284 are not qualified to apply for a Canadian permanent residence. Whereas the candidates with a score more than 284 and who have submitted their Express Entry profile before the tie-break date and time for this draw were issued an Invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Those candidates who have received an invitation to apply have 60 days to complete their application for permanent residence to the Government of Canada.
The Federal Skilled Trades Class ( FSTC) helps candidates with valid job offers or who are certified to work in certain occupations to get Canadian permanent residence.
Criteria for the FSTC :
- The applicants must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the last five years,
- The applicants must meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification, except for needing a certificate of qualification.
- The applicants must have a valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least one year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority.
Harry is 41 and has been working as an Industrial Electrician for seven years. Harry wrote the IELTS and obtained a 6 in each category. Harry has a one-year post-secondary credential and has recently received a certificate of qualification to allow him to work in his trade in one of Canada’s provinces. While Harry has never worked or studied in Canada, his CRS of 285 would have been sufficient to obtain an ITA in the most recent Express Entry Draw.
